The Behringer Xenyx 1002B is a very portable and solid mixing-console.
The whole Xenyx family of Behringer improved last years constantely in points like quality, toughness, sound and fashioning.
The 1002B offers four XLR-IN’s and all in all six channels with ten IN’s as a whole. Each channel offers a 3Band-EQ and a 60mm Fader. Xenyx preamplified XLR IN’s give your sound a pretty warm, not always that neutral, but kind of ‘british’ sound. In addition with two AUX’s it’s very flexible in use.
After all this doesn’t look as the masterpiece of audio-gear, does it?
It is a masterpiece:
The Xenyx is a very portable and video/audio specialized console also built to work in the fields, no matter if there is an ENG job to do or to record some wildfoley stuff. You can power it using three 9V batteries and it still offers +P48 for professional studio mics. So let’s look at it as a whole:
PRO
- very solid
- features
- battery-power
- 60mm fader
CON
- 2,5 kg (not that light)
So let’s sum it up:
I recommend this mixer to most of mobile working ‘one-man’-producers working in the fields or in ENG jobs. It’s really reliable and with around 85€ you get a very cheap and good sounding console you can trust in.
